Recognizing Fort Kent Honor One Name at a Time

Flags-USA was created to provide a patriotic feel to the town of Fort Kent. It was brought to our attention that the American Flag was only displayed on national holidays by the boy scouts in our town. A committee was formed on how to proceed to have flags displayed all year. The committee decided it would be more cost effective to use existing street banner brackets to display banner flags. The town of Fort Kent agreed to let us their lantern poles if we funded the cost. At that time, Greta Laferriere Martin agreed to become a major sponsor. She has matched to date 110% of every dollar donated. Donations from generous citizens believing in the cause helped us raise enough money to purchase banners and brackets for all of main street in Fort Kent. Greta also has agreed to continue sponsoring an outside permanent polished black granite monument. A 125 dollar donation puts a name on this outside monument and inside plaque as well. It is necessary to honor patriotic citizens whether alive or deceased. The honor roll will recognize living and deceased family members or friends well in the future.
